[Mary Thomas]

Say hello to Mary!

My name is Mary Thomas and I live in Santa Rosa, California. I fell in love with lady head vases in 1993 when I spotted a collection of them for sale in an antique store. The sign on the glass case said a discount would be given if you purchased 3 or more of them together. So I purchased my first 3 and that is how my collection began! Although I am always in search of new ladies for my collection, it seems that they are not very plentiful in my area. I wish I could claim to be one of those people who found one for fifty cents at a garage sale, but this has yet to happen to me! I search antique stores and antique shows. Every big vacation and little side trip includes a stop or two at an antique store, looking for "ladies". Even my husband Bob and my daughter Emily have fallen in love with them! Quite often, we will stop at an antique store or attend a show and Bob will "sniff them out" before I do! Of course, I'm pretty picky.... I only purchase the ones I like and they must be in great condition for me to buy. I have really been shocked at some of the broken vases I have seen for sale at premium prices. I love these ladies so much I even give each one a name when I take them home. OK, I bet I'm not the only one who TALKS to them occasionally!

My dream is to one day attend the Head Vase Convention armed with wads of cash and a big truck! Or to find a previously untouched shipment of them in an old warehouse! I would love to purchase some of the larger heads as all but one of mine are 5" to 7" or smaller. I really love collecting these pretty ladies and it's so great to see other people's beautiful collections as well. Thank you Chrissy for giving us a place to show and share our treasured ladies!
