Comments: An older lady in our community gave my mother a head vase about 17 years ago as a gift. My mother placed the head vase on a shelf where it has sat for the last 17 years. However, my mother didn't know that it was a head vase because the lady had stuffed the vase to make it a pin-cushion! So, until I started looking on the internet we had no idea what we had. Today we discovered that this little lady is worth in the neighborhood of $70 and has triggered a new collectable for me because my mother gave me her head vase to start my collection.

Comments: I started collecting in 93 when going through my dad's things after he passed away. I found a chipped headvase in his things. For Christmas 98 I decorated by mantle with all my red and white headvases and Santas using lollipops, candy canes, hollyberries for decorations. I used about 15 of my prized headvases. I am truly possessed by this collection! Recently I started purchasing small beaded purses and adding these bags to the "gloved ladies". It is so much fun! Also I have met up with Dorothy Wheeler in Pacific Grove CA who has over 600 vases in her collection. We had a nice chat. I love going to antique shops asking for vases and finding they don't know what they are. I have picked up some great headvases!!

I fell in love with them, cut the picture out of the magazine and taped it to my Christmas wish-list for the husband and mother-in-law. Lo and behold- while delivering a piece of glass to a local antique store there was two ladies. I bought them. And now I think I'm pretty hooked! McCoy pottery pieces he was collecting, and me being

and found Head Vases too. I fell in love with them.
They are lovely!
I hope to start collecting soon!

Comments: My sister is the lady head collector. She does not have a computer at present. She wants long haired vases and would consider any others as well. She has about 20 vases so far and I've had a great time helping her and keeping a lookout. I have two but mainly because they remind me of my sis so much. Thanks for a great web site! Is it ever possible to print your information? I could mail it to her.

Comments: the first head i bought because it reminded me of weekends
at my grandmother's house. when my mom first saw it she
asked when gram had given it to me!
evidently my grandmother had one in her home years ago.
for my birthday a girlfriend saw one at an antique show and
bought it for me! that's it! I really didn' t know what i
had purchased. I just recently found two books with pictures
of lady head vases and headvases. I'm interested in learning
more.

Favorite head: an unidentified girl with a plaid dress and banana curl pig tails. There is a Japan stamp on the bottom. I hope to identify her in Cole's book.
I wish for: any reasonably priced one!
Most recent find: An ARDCO like you have in your collection. Her eyes are open and she has 2 flowers on her dress, along with a pearl necklace and earrings. I think she in on page 129 of Cole's book.
Comments: I love your page. I was in an antique shop this weekend and
found 4 lady heads. I thought they were overpriced so I
came home and started surfing. I searched on 'lady head vases'
and found your page. What an eye opener. I never knew lady heads
were soooo popular. Just by visiting your page I have realized

Comments: I LOVE HEAD VASES!!! I collect the ladies only, not others.
My favorite heads are the ones with their eyes open, although
most of the ones I see have their eyes closed. I have 22 of
them. They are very scarce here in northern California, I
hardly ever find them and when I do, they are overpriced.
My dream is to someday attend the Head Vase Convention armed
with wads of cash! My husband and my daughter have even
fallen in love with them and we just love collecting them.
My husband will sniff them out at the antiques stores before
I do! I know it may sound strange, but I attended a funeral
the other day and while I was sitting there in the chapel,
the thought came to me that when I die, I want my lady
heads at my funeral! Of course, I am leaving them all to
my daughter, but I told my husband I want them all there
because they are such a part of me and I love them so very
much and I want people to see what I liked to collect!
I collect many other things, like teacups, old hankies,
Hummels, and Snowbabies too! But my absolute favorite,
are Lady Head Vases! I just love to visit this website.
Thank You so much!

Comments: I have just started collecting head vases and am interested in any information about beginning this collection. I purchased two vases in February on a trip and am hooked! Both of my pieces were inexpensive first pieces since I know very little about the subject. One was an ivory "Glamour Girl" with gold accents and the other is marked Thames - Japan and had openwork blonde hair. Again, I would love any tips on beginning my collection i.e. tips, hints, etc. Thanks!!! Kim Leight

Comments: Right after I had started collecting, I was in an antique co-op and saw a pretty blonde with a black halter dress. I commented how I had never seen one with a halter dress before. As I inspected the treasure, I noticed an ink mark on the face and for the asking price of $78, I was hesitant to purchase it since I did not know if the ink would come off or not, so I walked away without it. A few months later, I purchased the Cole and P&W books only to find that the one I let sit was... MARILYN MONROE! I still feel sick to my stomach whenever I pass her picture in the books. See you at the convention!

How many heads: 100 - 250
Favorite head: All of them! Have a little Fireman which is kind of special.
I wish for: all of them!
Most recent find: Don't remember!
Comments: I used to buy the heads at flea markets/garage sales for 25 to 50 cents! Got my first hundred that way.....now I find the heads in flea markets for $40 - $80 and I just can't afford them. I will continue searching though - someday a good garage sale might pay off! My husband put shelves along the top of several walls just to hold my heads.

I wish for: jackie o, of course!
Most recent find: k1925 relpo
Comments: I picked up my first "girl" at a yard sale for .50. I had a party, a friend attending asked if I'd be willing to sell it to her. I asked why. She said "Because I collect them and I have about 75 or so." We ended up exchanging for one of her duplicates and of course I became instantly obessed with collecting. I also barely missed a "Jackie" at a flea market in Illionis for only $7.00! No one was at the stand, so I came back later only to see "Jackie" carryed off by the women in front of me. I've paid so little for girls over the years, it's really hard to pay the price these days, even though they are certainly worth it! It's wonderful to find this huge family of admirers! See ya.

I was not allowed to play with it, I would sneak and touch it when she wasn't looking. When she died I asked for it because it will always remind me of my wonderful grandma. I am amazed at how many people collect heads, I am new on the computer and your web site blows my mind! I do not even know how to identify which ones I have. I guess I'll have to get one of the books you have listed so I can get with the program, so to speak.

Comments: I do not know a great deal about these vases but I like them. I would love to find out more about them, marks, makers, styles what they were used for, etc. They are relatively unknown in Australia, particularly in our area. They are hard to find and most are not in good condition with all of them having some type of damage. I would love to hear from someone who could help me to discover more about them and what to look for. How do I go about purchasing a vase over the net. I do not use credit cards and am very wary about buying sight unseen. I do not mean to offend but I hear about all the bad things happening when buying on the net.
Regards Alison.

Since none of the daughter in laws wish to carry on this tradition. It if money wise that we eliminate the dolls heads and plrnter vase/pockets that we have. Comments: Believe it or not, my husband began collecting these wonderful Ladies! I've gotten so involved in trying to find them as gifts for him, that I became just as addicted. We have over 100 heads and are running out of room to display them. We have a really nice built in bookcase in our family room and about 50 of them are displayed there. The rest are in a china cabinet where they are not seen as well. I put the glamour girls in the bathroom, so my guests can view them! I'm searching for the lipstick holder and toothpaste holders. If anyone has seen them or has them for sale, please let me know. I've also started picking up the standing girl planters when I see them. Email me if you ever find any of these items and you'd like to sell them.

boy with the base ball bat.( i still have it ) I am a dealer

in lucite purses i probably have over 200 i cant make up my
mind which i like the most. this coming june my vases and
